I was shocked to seek out that nobody had written a review for this book. I stumbled on it whereas writing my thesis for MBA on the topic of quality. This book is an extension of his McKinsey award winner article in HBR. Garvin expounds that there are eight dimensions of quality, like reliability, aesthetics, durability, etc. He begins by explaining completely different definitions and perceptions of quality; for instance, engineering encompasses a completely different definition than promoting, that in flip encompasses a completely different interpretation than producing. Through case study comparison of Japanese and yank corporations he demonstrates how quality management impacts the tip product and profitability. Although, it's less engineering/statistical than the works of Juran and different quality gurus, Managing Quality is maybe the foremost comprehensive book on quality; ideal for a manager/executive. Garvin's analysis is exhaustive; his writing vogue lucid.
